With this movie being the third film by Maurice Devereaux, it seems his movies begin to become more and more clever as
time passes. Blood Symbol (1992) was a very unsettling and yet sadly a very predictable plot. Then he came out with the
surprising b movie Lady of The Lake, and thank god he wasn’t acting as the lead. Then Slashers came into the picture and
brought a new scent of fresh air to the b movie horror scene.

Neil Napier an upcoming method actor helped bring two of the Slashers into a comedic and yet frightening twist compared
to most horror villains. Whether its playing the over religious figure of death known as “Preacherman”  or the psycho Billy
character “Chainsaw Charlie” he brings a human side to these hired goons of the horrendous Japanese game show gone
American. But sadly not the same could be same for actor Christopher Piggins who portrayed the intriguing yet sadly
disappointing character “Doctor Ripper” who used his tools of killing not for the gore that helped heighten then movie, but
instead used his tools to make 90% of the women in the film topless to where it almost desensitizes the film of its surprising
storyline of a group of Americans joining the Japanese famed game show slashers, to where a girl (Sara Joslyn Crowder) goes
onto the show to help show America and the world that they are at fault for all the deaths on this show in the past and present
until Dr. Ripper pays her a visit and her mind changes fast to where she fights for her life with 5 other contestants.

If you are a fan of high budget horror films that have nonstop violence then this movie is not for u, but if you want to see one
of the best b movies I have probably seen in years. Good luck finding it though because sadly this film has been discontinued
since 2006, so the best thing to do is look online or go to your local neighborhood family owned video store.
Slashers is without a doubt a very underrated good old American horror film.  It shows the true fan of most horror films that
the best film can be a surprising one that doesn’t need a high budget or the most amazing acting. The best thing is, this is a
movie that some would actually welcome a high budget remake in Hollywood because it has a high amount of potential, so all
we have to do is wait and see what happens…..
